Mini-Split Standard Cooling Condensing Units

About Mini-Split Standard Cooling Condensing Units

  1. It can provide cooling (and heat) in homes that do not have air ducts.
  2. It provides independent temperature control for each individual room.
  3. It can provide cooling (and heating) for as little as one room, or “zone”, and up to four “zones”.
  4. It allows for the addition of air conditioning in homes without ductwork, and with the least amount of physical interior space disruption.
Mini-split systems are made up of two primary parts, the outside part called a “condenser” or “heat pump”, and the inside part called a “mini-split air handler”. A “heat pump” type condenser provides heating and cooling, but can only be used in climates that do not have temperatures that regularly fall below 25 degrees. “Standard” type units provide cooling only. The condenser and air handler are connected together with copper pipes called a “line set” (see our Air Conditioning Components for line sets and other system components). Select an outside unit by standard or heat pump type, size (capacity), as well as how many “zones” or indoor air handlers you wish to have it operate (from 1-4). Select the indoor mini-split air handler based on size (capacity), and whichever type fits best in your rooms, whether it be on the wall, or in/on the ceiling.
