It is important to know that the home’s water hardness may affect a TrueSTEAM™ humidifier's operation. Typically, the harder the water, the more scale and sediment that can build up. In homes with hard water, Honeywell recommends a Reverse Osmosis Filtration System – which can remove dissolved minerals before they enter the TrueSTEAM. Adding an RO system in homes with hard water will extend the time between when the TrueSTEAM needs cleaning – resulting in increased satisfaction and less maintenance.

Hard water affects a small population of homes. The Reverse Osmosis Filtration System is designed to handle a majority, but not all, of these hard water applications. The RO Filter System is designed to remove calcium and magnesium from the water. If the water also has high iron, manganese or biological content, the filters may require replacement more than once per year. Honeywell offers water hardness test kits to help you diagnose the water quality in your home and recommend the best filtration solution for every application.
