Hard-Start Capacitors

This product is used for starting air conditioner or heat pump compressors (both reciprocal and scroll type) that need an extra "jolt" of electricity to get started.

Equipment that needs a hard-start capacitor:

• Heat pump or condenser split-systems that have a thermostatic expansion valve (TXV) installed on them.
• Old heat pumps or condensers that are mechanically stuck and not operating.

If you have a new or old compressor that is not starting, try installing this hard-start capacitor before you do anything else. The parts inside a compressor might be too physically tight to move, or on systems with a TXV where the refrigerant pressures are higher on start-up, and need an extra "kick" of energy to get started. This hard-start capacitor provides that extra jolt of energy. Capacitors are very easy to install (takes about 1 minute) and will remain permanently in the equipment.
