Wall furnaces are used for small homes or partial areas of a home, and operate on gas and/or electricity to provide heat. No ductwork is required, as the units blow or transmit the heat directly into the room (some models don't have blowers so the warm air gently moves into the room by convection.) Wall furnaces mount to a wall, and the vent (chimney) comes off the top or out the back to the outdoors.
