Now you can cool a room without any ductwork or special wiring--and move the unit from room to room as needed! The PD-121B is ideal for situations where a window isn't available or the existing window can't handle a room AC unit. Rated at 12,000 BTU, the PD-121B can be used to supplement the central cooling system, or to save energy by conditioning only the room being used. The unit moves easily from one space to another thanks to casters and built-in handles. A condensate management system eliminates buckets that have to be emptied. The PD-121B comes complete with everything needed for operation and installation, including sliding adapters that fit a variety of window sizes (double-hung and slider) to make installation fast and easy. The unit comes with two 71" long hoses, one for hot air exhaust and the other for air inlet. Unlike a single hose system, dual hose units operate like a traditional air conditioner. It uses outside air to carry away heat collected from the room without exhausting cool air, providing maximum efficiency and comfort.

Standard Features

  • Dual hoses effectively exhaust hot air and bring in fresh air
  • Louvers can be adjusted for air flow
  • Cool, dehumidify, air circulation modes
  • Electronic controls with soft-touch keypad
  • Full feature remote control
  • 24 hour on/off timer
  • Easy-access, washable filter
  • Disposes of its own condensate under most conditions; auto stop protects against overflow as safeguard
  • 71" exhaust hose and air intake hoses

Refrigerant

Inside air conditioning systems are liquid/gas refrigerant. There are two types of this refrigerant available for use, R-22 (more commonly known as Freon), and a newer alternative R-410A.

An air conditioning system does not consume refrigerant, but reuses it. As long as there are no leaks in the refrigerant circuit, there is no need to ever add more refrigerant to an air conditioning system.

Although R-22 is an effective refrigerant, if it is released into the atmosphere it can contribute to the depletion of the Earth’s ozone layer. The EPA has mandated the phasing out the use of R-22. It is being replaced by R-410A.

As of 2010, manufacturers are required to make all new air conditioners with R-410A. However, R-22 is still available for sale in existing pre-2010-manufactured equipment, and for use in servicing existing R-22 equipment. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be manufactured, but will still be recycled and available for sale.
