92,000 BTU Furnace, 95% Efficiency, 2-Stage Burner, 1,600 CFM Multi-Speed Blower, Upflow/Horizontal Flow Application

This is a Horizontal / Upflow unit. Learn More

The Goodman GMVC9/GCVC9 multi-position condensing gas furnace with two-stage heating and variable-speed circulating blower reduces operating costs and advances home comfort by eliminating temperature swings and stratification from floor-to-ceiling and room-to-room. The Goodman GMVC9/GCVC9 variable-capacity furnace smoothly ramps up or down – based on the demands of the home – to keep temperature consistent at all times. The Goodman GMVC9/GCVC9 multi-position, variable-speed gas furnace features a patented aluminized steel tubular heat exchanger and energy-efficient hot surface ignition system. These furnaces are run-tested for heating or combination heating/cooling applications. With a corrosion-resistant, painted steel cabinet, these heaters can be installed in a utility room, closet, alcove, basement or attic. (Not intended for use in mobile homes.) (Please read this Important Safety Notice)

Standard Features

  • Operates as a natural gas furnace out of the box, and can be easily converted to a propane furnace with optional propane conversion kit (see Accessories tab).
  • Corrosion-resistant, aluminized-steel tubular furnace heat exchanger and stainless-steel recuperative coil for maximum efficiency
  • Designed for multi-position installation— Goodman GMVC9: upflow, horizontal right or left; Goodman GCVC9: downflow, horizontal right or left
  • ENERGY STAR Furnace Rating. Energy-saving, reliable hot surface ignition system with patented adaptive learning algorithm to maximize igniter life
  • Furnaces' Auto-Comfort mode helps to efficiently create and maintain a comfortable climate by intuitively adjusting to the room’s environment
  • Aluminized-steel inshot furnace burners
  • 2-stage gas valve and super-efficient, quiet variable-speed furnace blower motor

  • Removable, solid-bottom block-off (Goodman GMVC9)

Outstanding Warranty Protection

This furnace is covered by what we believe to be one of the best warranties in the indoor home comfort industry. In addition to covering the heat exchanger with a Lifetime Limited Warranty to the original, registered homeowner, if the heat exchanger fails during the first 10 years of ownership, we will replace the entire unit for as long as you own your home. This furnace also has a 10-Year Limited Parts Warranty on all functional parts. For a full description of all warranties applicable to this product, please review the consumer brochure or product warranty in the Documents section.

Configuration

Configuration is the direction the conditioned air will pass through the unit.

Upflow units will have the air come in from the bottom and blow out the top.

Horizontal units will have the air go through the unit left to right, or right to left.

Downflow units will have the air come in from the top of the unit, and blow out the bottom.

Unsure of what configuration your home needs? Call us at 800-865-5931. Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:00pm CST

Configuration
Horizontal / Upflow
Blower Cooling Capacity

The tonnage of air conditioning that can be moved effectively by the blower. You want to make sure that the blower is appropriately sized for the air conditioner. If it is too small the coil could ice up. If it is too large than the air coming out of the ducts won't be cold enough.

Blower Cooling Capacity
2 / 2.5 / 3 / 3.5 / 4 / 5 Tons
Maximum Input BTU

The maximum amount of heat that the unit can produce. The amount delivered into the space will be the input minus the efficiency loss also know as the output. For example a 100000 btu furnace at 80% efficiency will give you 80000 out btus of heat. The same size furnace at 95% will give you 95000 btus of heat.

Maximum Input BTU
92,000 BTU
Maximum Heating Output BTU

The amount of heat, rated in British Thermal Units (BTUs), that the unit can deliver into the space. Not sure how many BTUs you need? Try our easy Equipment Sizing Estimator.

Maximum Heating Output BTU
90,000 BTU
Minimum Input BTU

The amount of heat produced by the unit at the lower stage of heat. Having two stages of heat will allow for more consistent operation and greater comfort in the home.

Minimum Input BTU
64,000 BTU
Minimum Output BTU

The amount of heat delivered into the space on the lower stage of heat. This number is the minimum heat input minus the efficiency loss.

Minimum Output BTU
61,700 BTU
Maximum CFM

The maximum amount of air that the blower can push. Rated in Cubic feet per minute or CFM.

Maximum CFM
2,000 @ 0.5
Efficiency (% AFUE)

The percentage of energy converted into output by the unit. The remaining percentage is lost during the conversion process. The higher the efficiency, the lower the operational cost.

Efficiency (% AFUE)
95 %
Blower Type

There are three main type of blowers: Multi-Speed, High-Efficiency Multi-Speed, and Variable Speed.

Standard Multi-Speed blowers have different speed options and you select the speed that the blower will operate at depending on the function it is performing (ex. different speeds for fan, AC, and heating functions).

High-Efficiency Multi-Speed blowers are designed to maintain a constant torque and in doing so will maintain air-flow and use less electricity.

Variable Speed blowers will adjust their speed during operation. The result is a blower that will run at lower speeds for longer periods of time (this improves the air flow and increases electrical efficiency).

Variable Speed
Burner Stages

A single stage furnace has one heat setting. The furnace is either on at full capacity or it is off.

A two stage furnace has two different heat settings; one full capacity and a second lower heat setting. The advantage of a two stage furnace is that it extends the run time which does a better job distributing the air in your home. This helps improve your homes comfort level while reducing drafty areas.

A modulating furnace will heat on a low capacity until a call for high heat is sent to the furnace. Once a high heat call is initiated the furnace will slowly increase the burner level and blower speed over time, until reaching full capacity. The advantages are potentially reduced noise and better efficiency in some models. A modulating furnace should provide the best comfort level.

ENERGY STAR® Qualified

Products earn the ENERGY STAR label by meeting the energy efficiency requirements set forth in ENERGY STAR specifications. The EPA establishes these specifications based on the following set of principles:

  • Product categories must contribute significant energy savings nationwide.
  • Qualified products must deliver the features and performance demanded by consumers, in addition to increased energy efficiency.
  • If the qualified product costs more than a conventional, less-efficient counterpart, purchasers will recover their investment in increased energy efficiency through utility bill savings, within a reasonable period of time.
  • Energy efficiency can be achieved through broadly available, non-proprietary technologies offered by multiple manufacturers.
  • Product energy consumption and performance can be measured and verified with testing.
  • Labeling would effectively differentiate products and be visible for purchasers.
