"I recently bought an Aprilaire 600 Humidifier. It was very reasonably priced and arrived in the timeframe promised. I was quickly un-boxing and reading the instructions, anxious to get started.
The instructions and the DVD were very helpful and installation was pretty straightforward. The only question I had was hooking the electrical to the furnace so the humidifier would only operate when the furnace fan was operating. But after reading the furnace manual and doing some testing with an electrical multi-purpose tester, I found the correct terminals on the furnace circuit board and was all set. I suspect most would find the current sensing relay a more attractive alternative.
All in all a good product, easily installed, with outstanding humidification results!

"It's ALIVE!! The do-it-yourself (DIY) operation has been successfully completed. The original 24-year-old split home HVAC unit has been destroyed and replaced by a more friendly, efficient (SEER13), and complete Goodman system. Getting and receiving $5000+ quotes from local AC contractors was a bit depressing so I did a little research on the net and discovered DIY was feasible. With a one man operation, it took about 16 hrs. to wreck out the old system and install the new Goodman. A local certified HVAC tech finished up the last 10% of the job and I got to flip the breaker and the system started up the first time! It is super quiet compared to our old, ugly system."

"We received the Aprilaire Model 600 a few weeks ago and it went just great! The only problems I encountered were dealing with the existing humidifier that was in place when we bought the house. It was an Aprilaire 250 (or 2-something). The existing hole where it was installed by whoever was right at the A/C coils and pushed out the sheet metal/rubbed on the coils. I had to cut a new hole to install the unit and patch the hole from the previous one. It's always something with a 25-year-old house. I was able to put the controller in that existing hole where the old one was. Thanks for the wiring tech support. The person I talked to explained just how to connect it up and was very courteous and professional. The price was also very competitive and all went well. Thanks for the great customer service! The unit was almost an exact fit of my old one, and that was in the attic! I could not believe the difference. The efficiency of the Goodman unit (I bought the 93% efficient model) compared to the old one was so dramatic that a week later I ordered a replacement for the furnace downstairs (the 95% efficient model..I noticed the $150 tax credit kicks in 2006). I probably could have run the downstairs furnace another 5 years, but I added it all up and the new furnace will pay for itself in 5 years. I figured I was lucky on the first one getting it in 2 days, but hard to believe the 2nd unit came exactly in 2 days. Although I hope to never need it, the unlimited technical support is a nice plus, and the magnetic sticker to put on the unit with your phone number tells me you really will give the support."
