The Rinnai 204000045 remote thermostat installation kit lets a Rinnai direct vent wall furnace be controlled by a field-supplied wall thermostat, including Wi-Fi enabled smart thermostats. The kit mounts a sub control board and transformer on the furnace; once it is wired, the furnace is switched to Remote Thermostat mode from its control panel, as described in the furnace manual.
