This system is designed to be installed in an horizontal application with the furnace laying on its side. This system consists of a 5 ton 13 SEER AC condensing unit, a 21 inch tall 2 stage variable speed gas furnace, and 24.5 inch tall horizontal evaporator coil. This is a certified, 13 SEER matching AC system. Although the functional efficiency should be higher due to the advanced blower motor in the furnace.

The 2 stage furnace is designed to run at full output or 70% of its rated output. As the furnace increases and decreases the heat it generates the fan speed increases and decreases with it. This has several advantages. The furnace will run for longer periods of time at lower output levels, this increases both the electrical and gas efficiency of the system, and makes these furnaces very quiet. The longer run time will more effectively mix the air in your home helping to even out the temperatures throughout. The variable speed motor is a smart motor that can adjust to conditions inside your duct system to optimize the air delivery through your home. The furnace is designed to use natural gas but it can be converted to use propane. The propane (lp) conversion kit and other install components are in Accessories section below.

Please note that this condenser comes pre-charged with R-410A liquid refrigerant and by Federal law cannot be released to the atmosphere. You can purchase this equipment without being EPA certified, and if you are mechanically inclined you may perform about 90% of the equipment installation yourself. However we strongly recommend to have a professional heating/cooling contractor do the final part of the installation including managing the refrigerant. An HVAC contractor has the tools and know-how to do this work. Also, having a contractor perform the final startup and inspection of this condenser validates your warranty with Alpine.
